Housing Alternatives Inc. is a private, non-profit organization that provides Development and Management Services to both Housing Co-operatives and Non Profit Housing Organizations in South Western New Brunswick.
Housing Alternatives Inc. was founded in 1981 on the initiative of the Human Development Council and the local Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. For more than 38 years we have been assisting people with alternate solutions to their housing challenges. Our main purpose is to provide housing support services to non-profit and housing co-operative groups working to provide housing to low and moderate income households. approach to housing development.
Since opening our doors we have been committed to developing strong partnerships with other community agencies in Saint John. Our value oriented philosophy allows us to focus on doing what we do best, providing housing, while the agencies that we partner with provide services and supports to residents.
In partnership with the Province of New Brunswick, our Organized Departure Program allows us to rapidly rehouse people who have experienced homelessness or are at risk of becoming homeless.
Our Housing First program is designed to support the goals of the National Housing Strategy, Reaching Home. We embrace a recovery oriented approach to ending homelessness, which focuses on quickly moving people experiencing homelessness into independent and permanent housing and then providing additional support and services as needed.
